Despite her father's warnings, Ariel continues to explore the world above the sea, collecting human objects and sharing her dreams with her loyal friend Flounder. When she witnesses a shipwreck during a violent storm, Ariel rescues the handsome Prince Eric from drowning and immediately falls in love with him. Her desire for freedom and independence eventually leads her into the clutches of the wicked sea witch Ursula, who offers Ariel the opportunity to become human in exchange for her beautiful singing voice. Desperate to pursue her dreams, Ariel agrees to the bargain, unaware of Ursula's true intentions. Transformed into a human, she must win Prince Eric's love and receive true love's kiss within three days. If she fails, she risks losing her freedom forever and becoming trapped under Ursula's control.
